This super fun tri-coloured dough will get any toddler exploring and playing! Playdough is great open-ended play for toddlers and older children. It is also a wonderful fun sensory activity. I was surprised that even after playing with the dough for a while you could still see all the different colours, it didn’t just turn into a brown mush (just yet).

In this article I am going to show you step-by-step how to make this colourful dough. First you will need my amazing home made cooked playdough (Subscribe and get the recipe for free!)

Step one- Place all of the ingredients into a pot on a low heat on the stove and mix until it comes together in a dough.

Next – Take the dough out the pot and let it cool a bit, knead it for a bit then divide it into 3.

Next is the messy part. Add some food colouring to each chunk of dough, and knead it until evenly coloured. You might want to wear disposable gloves for this part!
Once the dough is coloured add in some glitter and/or confetti. Put all the chunks together so the colours slightly mix and create a swirled effect.

Store in an air tight container and it will last for more than a month.
You can set out the dough with some rolling pins, mini muffin tin, cutter, candles etc. and let them have fun!

Pin this for later!
